We had a reverse culture shock moment last weekend. Our summer shutdown has us using more conventional cooking equipment like a microwave and a fancy Breville Smart oven. We were making a small batch cookies by using homemade frozen Toll House cookie dough. My wife was trying to preheat smart oven and became overwhelmed with the assortment of knobs. It made us realize how accustomed we had become to the relative simplicity of the AGA.
We have also become accustomed to the readiness of the AGA. The electric stove top we purchased is rather feeble and takes a dog’s year to get cooking. More excuses to grill out…except that we have been in a heat wave. Solution: gazpacho and chilled avocado soup!
